Freeze-Up Full Moon on November 13

Full Moon Gathering & Ceremony on November 8

The Freeze Up Moon is a time to get grounded before the fall holiday season sets in and winter is upon us. We need to re-ground our energies that have been basking and growing in the sun's shine all spring and summer. So while the summer has expanded your energies, the fall is a time to regroup, retrench, before the winter introspections and rejuvenation.

This is a time to give yourself permission to slow down, to even stop for a moment, and to let go of things that you cannot change. As the holiday season begins to ramp up, give yourself permission to rest, take a few deep breaths, clear your mind. Often times we rush around so much from one task to the next, and then with all the obligations of the holidays that we don't allow ourselves to ever really slow down. Of course, we realize that we can't keep up a ridiculous pace, but yet, we keep trying. Until & something helps us slow down. So as you read this, take a moment, to slow down. Breathe! Feel grounded in your chair. Feel the support of Mother Earth below you. Clear your head. Deep Inhale, Deep Exhale.  . . .

.

.

.

Okay. Now, don't you feel good? Remember that you can do this anytime. Even a short moment will give your body an opportunity to regroup. In this short break time, that you're allowing yourself, be thankful of what you accomplished this spring and summer growing season and fall harvest time. It's important to recognize what you accomplished so that you can build on those accomplishments. Also, you'll want to let others know what you've accomplished this year. Not in a bragging sort of way, but in a manner that let's others know the tangible things you've done. To help them see, and you articulate, what you value and why. Because, what you focus on grows. By focusing and acknowledging on your accomplishments, they will grow.

Last, in this time of the Freeze Up Moon, find a practical tool that will help you with the holiday season. You need a practical tool, if you've struggled through the holiday season because you rush through it, you have too many obligations, you end up spending too much money, you can't ever get a moment for yourself, you get depressed with regrets or lost opportunities, or for whatever reason your holiday season doesn't pan out the way you want.

A practical tool can help to bring a new perspective to your holidays a perspective of appreciation for those who are in your life, for what you've accomplished, for what you have, for those you love and love you.

  • A practical tool can be as simple as deep breathing exercises. You don't need to be training in any tradition to just follow your in/out breath in relaxation. You do that every night when you sleep, so taking a moment or two in the day to rest will help you as well
  • Another tool can be stretching at your computer. Stretching head, neck, shoulders, fingers, arms, legs, torso can bring circulation up after you've been sitting for a long time
  • Another tool might be to imagine the earth taking away anything you don't need. You can do this in the shower, tub, while walking, or even when resting. The earth loves to take our heavy energies and turn them into fertilizer. It's her elixir or chocolate.

So find an easy tool, one that you might want to try, or one that you've used successfully before and give it whirl this holiday season. Bring some perspective to your harvest and appreciate what you've accomplished. And ground again before the cold winds of winter are upon us.
