Long Snows Full Moon on December 12
Full Moon Gathering & Ceremony on December 19-21
Now is the time of the Long Snows Moon. Your calendar year is coming to a close. It is a time to move into acceptance. Acceptance of where you are right now; acceptance of what you've accomplished and what wasn't accomplished, acceptance that you've arrived where ever you're going to for this year; acceptance of your family; acceptance of the holiday for whatever it is or means to you right now; acceptance of yourself. Acceptance!
To accept yourself and the situation around you, requires that you demonstrate forgiveness, appreciation, understanding, non-attachment, to name but a few. Will you accept yourself and where you are right now? Give yourself what you need to accept your life as it is today.
By accepting yourself, you will be able to live more in the presence, and as a result, have more fun and enjoyment in your life. What a great way to move into the Holiday season? With this state of acceptance, you can be tranquil while chaos reigns around you.
The year ends with time of the Winter Solstice, when we experience the shortest, or least, daylight of the year. This occurs on or around Dec 21. For three days, the Sun hangs at its farthest distance from the Earth. Then on the fourth day, the Sun begins to return closer to the Earth. Historically, many indigenous cultures held rituals during those three days, sitting in prayer, maybe even fasting, asking that the Sun not forsake the Earth, but to be sure to return to bring light, warmth, and growth for the coming year.
As the solar year closes with the winter solstice, your year also comes to an end, as you enter your own personal solstice or still point. This is where you want to build your winter's nest, where as the winter progresses, you will rest and cleanse yourself so you are ready for the coming year of growth. This is a nest to catch you or fall into, especially after the holidays.
So before you write up any New Year's resolutions, while you still have a little energy left this year, use it to take a moment and find that still point within, find your tranquility within the chaos of the world around you, and build a nest so you can return during the coming winter resting months.
