2/20 - Introduction to Big Winds Moon

Have you enjoyed your Winter introspection time?

What have you learned about last year's growing season that you can make use of during this year's growing season?

Each of the four seasons has three moons associated it; the Big Winds Moon is the last of the full moons in the winter season.

During the winter season, the earth's energies retreat deep into its core from the abundant growth of the previous summer to rest and rejuvenate for the upcoming growing season. Therefore Winter is a time of reflection on the death of the previous season and the upcoming birth of the new growing season to come.

Just as nature takes a break, it's important for you to reflect on your own energy system. Have you rested during this winter season? It doesn't need to be an extended rest, but just some time off, maybe a few sleep ins on the weekend or early nights during the week, or perhaps a lazy evening bath after a long day at work. Resting is an important stage to reaching your fullest potential which you'll need for the upcoming growing season, plus resting takes some time.

If you're feeling resistant to taking some must needed resting time, realize that resting can be contrary to our western culture that asks for continuous (and steady) growth in life, in economics, in business, etc. no matter what nature's growing season says. Yet, you can't grow all the time. Everything takes a break it.

Since the Earth has used the Winter season to rejuvenate and rest. Now the Earth's energies are getting ready to bloom into Spring. This Big Winds Moon is the last moon of the Winter season, and the Spring equinox (when day and night are equal in length of time) arrives on March 21; therefore, now is the time to create your action plan for the Spring season. The March full moon will be after the spring equinox and signal the shift to spring.

As the winds begin to shift with the coming of spring, ask yourself what do you want to blossom? If you thought about New Year's resolutions, use them to begin to create an action plan for the upcoming growing season. Then get ready to use the Spring energies to move into action.

Now, how do you want Nature's blooming energies to bloom yourself? If you consider yourself as a tree or some other plant, what type of flower will you be this Spring? How will the flower fertilized? What will grow? What fruit will you harvest in the Fall?

Next Month: March 21, the Budding Trees Moon (a time to catalyze energy shift to spring)
